We arrived in Creede about 3:30pm on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. Photos #02 and #03 were taken in the back yard of the house we rented for 3 nights, The House on Old Mill Road, which is up on a hill overlooking the southwest end of Creede with views of the surrounding mountain scenery. It is located at the very bottom middle of the map below.
At the north end of town all the roads converge into a beautiful canyon formed by two huge cliffs which are signature landmarks of Creede. Dug into the left cliff face by miners in the early 1990s are the Creede Volunteer Fire Dept. (photo #12), the Creede Underground Mining Museum (see section #3 on the home page), and the Creede Community Center.
The road continues from the north end of the canyon as a rough gravel road which is a starting point of the historic and picturesque 17-mile Bachelor Loop Tour (see section #4 on the home page) through the remnants of old mines and the sites of former mining towns.
